Bitches

No break
The Sons of Bitches are female and have a lot of power: Funke and Cleo, long-standing friends, run a successful vlog under this name. They share their thoughts with their fans and followers about make-up, music, cats and life in general. But they keep on pressing the pause button on the camera and then fundamental conflicts within their relationship come to the surface which are often crystallised by their different skin colours – Funke is black and Cleo is white. Funke is a political activist and member of the Black Lives Matter movement while Cleo is indifferent to all of that. Then one day a video goes online that really wasn’t planned.
In this play, originally written for the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, the British dramatist Bola Agbaje portrays a multi-faceted friendship in which, for all its intimacy, racist assumptions still take place and are discussed. Ensemble actors Linda Blümchen and Massiamy Diaby play the roles of Cleo and Funke in Munich. The production in Zur schönen Aussicht, visible from the Max-Joseph-Platz, is directed by London-based theatre-maker Philip J Morris.
