Satoko Ichihara

Satoko Ichihara, born in 1988 in Fukuoka (Japan), is an author, director and performer. In 2016, she published the novel «Insects» in the literary magazine Subaru.

Satoko Ichihara is artistic director of the Kinosaki International Arts Centre and a fellow of the Saison Foundation. In 2019, she won the Kishida Prize for the best theatre play of the year for «The Bacchae-Holstein Milk Cows», a work commissioned by the Aichi Triennale in co-production with Theater der Welt. In the 2019/20 season, she was invited for a residency at the Residenztheater Munich as part of the platform for international contemporary drama Welt/Bühne. Her play «Madama Butterfly» was created in collaboration with the Neumarkt Theatre in Zurich.
