En la oscuridad de la noche (In the darkness of the night)

Regarded as Chile’s most active and influential playwright, Carla Zúñiga Morales works across a wide stylistic range. Her work is characterised by a sharp sense of humour, which she deftly applies even when tackling serious themes. In her latest play, Morales, a self-identified feminist artist, delves into the horror film genre. «In the Darkness of Night» consists of six scenes in which the author refrains from giving voice to compelling perpetrators or brilliant detectives. Instead, she focuses solely on women: women who, in the face of the escalating femicide crisis, strive to navigate their everyday fears, maintain the courage to engage in life, and preserve their sense of humour. Morales herself directed the play last winter in Santiago, Chile. WELT/BÜHNE festival presents this work for the first time in German-speaking countries.
