Kyung-Sung Lee
Kyung-Sung Lee wurde 1983 in Basel in der Schweiz geboren und wuchs in Korea auf. Er studierte Theaterregie an der Joong-Ang Universität in Seoul und an der Royal Central School Of Speech and Drama in London. Er gründete Creative VaQi im Jahr 2007 im Alter von 25 Jahren und arbeitet seitdem als künstlerischer Leiter. Zu seinen bisherigen Arbeiten gehören «The Dream Of Sancho», «The History Of Gangnam» und die Reihe «Theatre Practice». Er ist der jüngste Gewinner des prestigeträchtigen East Asia New Conception Theatre Award für «Let Us Move Your Sofa» (2010) und des Doosan Yonkang Artist Award für «Namsan Documenta» (2014) sowie vieler anderer wichtiger Theaterpreise in Korea.
Seine Arbeiten wurden international präsentiert, u. a. auf dem Festival Tokyo, dem Black Box Theater Festival in Hongkong, dem Deutschen Theater Berlin und dem Live Arts Festival in Melbourne. Kyung-Sung Lee war außerdem dritter künstlerischer Leiter des Seoul Marginal Theatre Festival und ist derzeit Professor für Theaterregie an der Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul.
Am Residenztheater inszenierte er 2021 «Borderline», eine Deutsch-Koreanische Koproduktion und Dokufiktion von Jürgen Berger. Für die Uraufführung von «The Mannschaft» kehrt er in der Spielzeit 2024/2025 ans Residenztheater zurück.
